Happy New Year!

One hopes that we have all recharged over the holiday and that everyone got a chance to enjoy the revitalised Chequers at either the Volunteer night or Xmas Eve.

Didn’t she shine!  We enjoyed being able to share all the year’s hard work and we hope it struck the note of being familiar yet pleasingly different.  We have yet to put the finishing touches to the interior – but this will be happening once we draw breath on an amazing year.

As we hoped, most of the preparations were done in time, but we had a busy time after the volunteer night to tweak things that didn’t quite go according to plan.  The biggest hiccup was our glass wash only managed a few cycles before going kaput – so it was a mighty task to get this turned around by good old hand-washing.  Emma Swift would like to personally thank Lynne Riddell, Tom Young, Lesley Clough and Katie Howells who were all gallant helpers with this when the going got tough on Christmas Eve.

Thank you for your support for the event – there were lots of pictures taken and we’ve shared a few below. We estimate about 200 people attended over the 3 sessions on Christmas Eve which was a terrific response. If you have some great pictures from either evening, do let us know (contactus@ email above) and send us a copy so we can add it to the Roxwell archives. If you missed popping in at Christmas Eve – fear not – more pop-up pub nights are planned.

As New Year rings in, the management committee are looking to the prospect of a cracking 2025!  There is much to look forward to, more pop-up pub nights (dates tbc shortly), finessing the final touches and of course, welcoming a new tenant into the Chequers.

All of the management committee (Clive, Emma D, Emma S, Ian, Jon, Josie, Nick and Sam) wish all Shareholders, Volunteers, Supporters and the wider community to Roxwell prosperity and good health. Let’s make the new chapter sing in 2025!
